Philadelphia County Assistance Office - Cash Assistance - Boulevard District

Description of Service Administers TANF, GA and state blind pension cash assistance. TANF provides families with children cash benefits for up to 5 years (60 months). All TANF recipients must enter into an Agreement of Mutual Responsbility (AMR), an action plan developed and agreed upon by the client and caseworker to direct efforts towards self-sufficiency. During the first 24 months that cash assistance is received, the client must conduct a job search for up to 8 weeks. After 24 months of benefits, the client is required to work at least 20 hours a week or participate in an appropriate work-related activity to remain eligible for benefits. GA (General Assistance) is a state-funded program providing assistance to adults and some children who reside in Pennsylvania. A State Blind Pension may be paid to a person, 21 years and older, whose visual acuity with best correcting lenses is 3/60 or 10/200 or poorer in the better eye.
