Improvements are planned to Cottman Avenue between Castor Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.
This project is at the end of the conceptual phase is moving into design – the team will be presenting draft concept plan and gathering your feedback!
Project Information
- Limits of Work: Cottman Avenue between Castor Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard (not including those two intersections)
Improvements may include:
- Access Management - Reducing and/or modifying large driveways to improve traffic and pedestrian safety
- Pedestrian crossings
- Mid-block crossing for users of the Library and the Health Center
- Bumpouts at intersections to reduce road width
- Landscaped center median
- Pedestrian-level streetlights
- Traffic signal upgrades, retiming and other improvements to enhance safety and smooth flow
- Transit facility modifications
- Improved bicycle connectivity
- Streetscape – such as street furniture including benches and landscaping to help create a unified look and feel for the area
- Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) - includes a range of soil-water-plant systems that intercept stormwater, infiltrate a portion of it into the ground, evaporate a portion of it into the air, and in some cases release a portion of it slowly back into the stormwater system.
- Completed design plans expected December 2020
- Construction anticipated Early 2021 (pending funding)
